Car makers welcome benchmarking initiative
A ground breaking initiative to benchmark the automotive industry, launched by Vehnet in partnership with Detroit based supply chain optimisation consultants AutoDiversity Management inc.(ADMi), has met with positive response from OEM's and LSPs alike at this years Automotive Logistics Russia conference.
The project will offer car makers and automotive logistics providers a unique opportunity to benchmark themselves against their peers and identify ‘quick wins’ within their supply chains.
“Benchmarking is a form of collaboration that does not erode competitive advantage, but over time improves the overall performance of all those participating, increasing innovation, leading to better productivity across the board,” Marc Brazeau, founding partner of ADMi, explains.
Using sophisticated technology, purpose designed by Vehnet, data from diverse information systems across organisations can be drawn together, then analysed by experienced supply chain design and optimisation specialist ADMi, highlighting strategic opportunities for improved efficiencies, driving performance up and costs down.
According to Steve Jones, Group Managing Director at Vehnet, the call for a European benchmarking exercise is timely given the current economic climate. “In order for an organisation to control costs in the face of catastrophic recession and streamline its operations in preparation for eventual recovery, it is vital to understand where the costs and potential savings reside,” he says. “Benchmarking facilitates that insight by interrogating systems, providing expert analysis of results and making recommendations for positive change."
"Benchmarking now will enable us to compare pre and post crisis performance,” he adds.
