Global agreement with Volvo
Vehnet has secured a global agreement with Volvo Logistics Corporation to deploy their industry leading Yard Management System at all yards owned or operated by Volvo, worldwide.
The move follows successful implementation of the software at sites in Europe and the US, namely Volvo's Multi Modal Terminal (MMT) at Gent in Belgium, which handles trailers, automobiles, trains and containers; and at the New River Valley Plant in the US, where inbound trailers and containers are managed on behalf of Mack Truck and Volvo Truck. New River Valley has experienced greater visibility for parts planners and trailer detention charges are under tight control. Vehnet's iTracks system has streamlined administration, improved visibility and increased operational control.
Commenting on behalf of Vehnet, Group Managing Director Steve Jones said, "We are proud and delighted that Vehnet will be working alongside Volvo on a global basis. This agreement reflects the success of our software in Europe and the US, and is a measure of the confidence the Volvo team has in Vehnet. The Volvo implementation team will use our iTracks Builder Technology to create optimized solutions for all aspects of their operations worldwide."
The Vehnet system is already closely interfaced with the Volvo A4D Logistics Management system and will operate with an RFID system where appropriate.
Vehnet won the contract following a four-way competitive tender.
