Major project goes live in South America

A major contract with Contecar Terminal, based at the Columbian Port of Cartagena, which was secured earlier in the year by leading software specialist Vehnet, has successfully gone live.

Contecar has implemented Vehnet’s specialist Advance Marine Terminal solution, which will manage the lifecycle of all vehicles coming into the Terminal. Using Vehnet’s unique workflow tools the system has been adapted to meet Contecar’s operational requirements and includes processes specific to the local marketplace.
Vehnet first designed and built a prototype that was tested in a controlled environment before the full solution was implemented, providing Contecar with a full view of the functionality and flexibility of the system.
“A phased implementation proved a practical route to excellent implementation,” said Steve Jones, Managing Director of Vehnet. “Once Contecar was satisfied with the prototype, we were able to install the software as well as agreeing likely future requirement. This ensures that we can help Contecar stay ahead of the curve as their business grows. Obviously we have also provided full training, and ongoing support as part of the contract.”
Commenting on behalf of Contecar, Eduardo Bustamante, Director of Systems & Telecommunications added, “Although we already have highly sophisticated systems for containers as well as our own TOS, it is a standard break bulk andcontainer system. As we import and export up to 5000 vehicles every month through our Terminal, have an inventory of around 2500 cars and provide car processing services, there is a clear need for an additional, specialised system to handle this aspect of our business. The Advance technology from Vehnet has delivered more control and allows us to provide better than ever service to our customers.”
He added, “Vehnet came strongly recommended and we have been impressed by their capabilities. They have worked closely with our IT and business teams to adapt the Advance system to our local market needs, incorporating specific processes for the Columbian marketplace, such as Customs processing. We had great support throughout the system implementation and the service has been efficient, accurate and cost-effective. Now we are planning an extension to the project, integrating our financial and back office systems into the new vehicle management system.”
Ends.
